Cubs have been working hard towards Gardening badge planting herbs and making boxes for potatoes. They also been trying badminton a s a new sport.

Cubs had their first camp. Cubs started by preparing their own lunch to take with them on train ride to Botanic. We explored Ulster Museum. Once back in hall we enjoyed dinner, played games and set up tents for good nights sleep. Next morning after breakfast and tidy up cubs worked on some DIY skills.
Last weekend cubs enjoyed summer camp at Lorne estate. We started Friday with train trip to Cultra. After setting up camp cubs explored local beach and Lorne estate grounds finishing night with camp fire and songs. Saturday was fun filled with lots activities. First we did climbing tower followed by abseil. After lunch we returned to archery and zip line. Saturday was finished with Smores and campfire songs. Sunday we left Lorne estate and went exploring Ulster Folk museum. We took train journey back home tired and soak through.
This week Cubs learnt all about good teamwork. They played multiple games each time trying to improve they’re teamwork skill, adapting to new challenges and appointing responsibilities within teams.
This morning cubs met up in Portbalintrea for a 5 mile hike up to Giants Causeway and back. Weather was on our side as we had cooler breeze in morning hours. Cubs hiked, climbed around rocks and was also greeted by a pod of dolphins.
Tonight cubs learnt how to upcycle furniture. We had a bit of fun and lots of mess painting chairs and bedside tables. Thanks to amazing Jane and Phoebe from Can Can for teaching our boys and girls
For last few weeks cubs have been finishing off Environmental conservation badge working hard on some projects. We planted our own strawberries with hope to have plenty of fruit and created cosy bug hotels for our small criters.
Last night cubs spent time navigating around Ballymoney. They took turns in their sixies reading map and guiding pack around town. We all made it back to hall safe and sound.

Just before Easter holidays Cubs finished off Collectors badge. They also had spring camp in Peter Thompsons Hall. We hiked to Downhill forest were we built shelters and practised fire starting. Evening was finished with a movie night. Next morning after big breakfast we finished camp with run around the beach.
For the last few weeks cubs been having lots of fun. We played walking football, charades, celebrated international women’s day planting sunflowers for influential women in our lifes. Cubs learnt some interesting facts about countries from around the world and had a chance to taste some of their foods. They also have started to work towards Collectors badge by showing their treasures. We are exited to hear all about their interests from our last pack next week.
This week Cubs learnt all about money. We explored currencies from around the world. Planned budget for camp meals, learnt what influences our money spending habits and how to stay safe online by creating strong, safe passwords. Cubs also created their own currency.
Last Saturday cubs had so much fun in our Christmas party. We played games, did trivia, made up crazy Mad Lib stories. Fun was followed by festive loaded fries, pass the parcel and movie (Home Alone). We finished evening with gifts. Have a Merry Christmas and will see you back in New Year with loads of new adventures.
Tonight cubs worked on some science projects. We built Da Vinci bridge, cleaned coins, uncovered secret messages, projected stars on ceiling and learn about how to distribute our weight by standing on paper cups.
Last weekend Cubs had Halloween camp in Peter Thompsons Hall. We played games, enjoyed run around outdoor playground and carved pumpkins. We finishen night with movie and treats. Cubs also entertained leaders with a song for Baloo 😁
Last night Cubs enjoyed some Halloween fun. We were making lanthers and Bat candy holders for all the trick or treating. We also made some tasty snacks. Now off to camp this weekend.
This week Cubs learnt how to use different DIY tools. We tested screwdrivers, hammers, drills, staple gun, glue gun. Evening finished with cubs favourite – dodge ball.
Last night Cubs participated in athletic games set by Young Leaders. Lots of running and jumping. After all hard work they all enjoyed some Smores
Cubs are back in full swing. We enjoyed a breezy hike around East Strand. Cubs climbed dunes and worked in their sixies trying to find as many items on our nighttime scavenger hunt.
Cubs had amazing time back in first proper outdoor camp. We started we the biggest challenge – tent set up in strong wind. Followed buy flag making, backwoods cooking, fire starting, hiking and loads more of fun. And of course you can’t have a camp without smores. So many memories were made
Tonight cubs visited Community Rescue centre. We learnt how to use life jackets, searched for missing person, used walkie-talkies and found all about the amazing work volunteer rescue team does.
Cubs had an amazing trip to Rathlin Island. We had some laughs and squeals on ferry. We hiked over 4 miles to RSPB Seabird centre were we saw puffins, fulmars, razorbills and many more birds. Cubs had a chance to visit gift shop and enjoy local chippy The Hungry Seal.
This week cubs enjoyed a mini hike in Springwell forest. We’ve seen lots of slugs and some lovely chihuahua pups. Now off to more hikes with preparation to our Rathlin trip.

This week cubs work on their skills. We learned how to iron, make bed, brew some tea, set table, peel some veg and change light bulbs. They all shoud be great help around house from now on 😉
- In this years Cubs Olympics five teams were competing to win – Cool Cubs, Cub Land, Americans, Scoutland and Jamiverse. Javelin, hammer throw, shot put ice cube boblsed and many more fun games were played. We had lots of fun and so many cubs had a chance to stay overnight for the first time
- This year so far we have baked, done some art and played lots of interesting games
Despite bad weather forcast Cubs cad great fun in our Spooky forest adventure. It all startet with pumpkin searh followed by carving, some fun games and spooky treasure hunt around dark forest. Good old baked potatoes with beans, cheese and sausages to top it all 😋
Wednesday night cubs enjoyed Pack Forum talking through ideas for badge work as well as playing some games to strengththeir teamwork. They also were sorted into their sixies – packs
Cubs Bird Box Project
Cubs have started a fantastic DIY project – Building Bird Boxes. We measured out our building materials. We used saws (under adult supervision) to star to prep for assembly. Next week we’ll continue to work on them using more tools.
Wednesday night cubs learned all about Bike Maintenance. We used bike pumps and spanners. After testing their bikes they all had fun ride around car park. We also practiced Grand Howl and invested our new Cub.
