Beavers Gardener Badge

Beavers started work on their gardeners badge last week. They decorated pots to plant their summer flower seeds in.

They took their filled pots home to look after and record the changes they see as the flowers grow. Hopefully we will see some lovely blooms.
They also created a wildlife garden in tyre planters with plants that attract wildlife, like lavender, thyme and phlox. Each beaver drew a bug to decorate the wildlife garden sign 🐞🐝

Rocks!!!

Tonight our beaver scouts were walking around Ballymoney leaving their painted rocks in various places for people to find.  Their hope is to make someone smile when they find them.  Our hope is to make more people aware of scouting in Ballymoney.  Keep an eye to see if anyone puts pictures of their finds under this post.  Here are the rocks to look out for.

County Patrol Camp

Scouts attended the annual county patrol camp over the bank holiday weekend.  The weather was fantastic, not a drop of rain! The scouts worked well together pitching their tents on Friday night.  On Saturday morning, after cooked breakfast provided by chefs Daniel, Adam, Megan and Ella, it was time to take part in a number of scouting activities.

The activities included backwoods cooking, orienteering, knife, axe and saw, fire lighting and sharing youth shape ideas.

After dinner (bolognese/savoury mince) most of the scouts prepared entertainment for the campfire.

The next morning after packing up, 5 scouts were awarded their Chief Scout Gold award and the close of camp.  Well done Laura, Alex, Matthew, Nathan and Robyn.

Finally a get well soon wish to Kurt who had to leave camp a day early as he was unwell.
Thanks to Colin and the team for organising the event

Beavers visit Pets at Home

On Tuesday night the Beavers took part in Pets at Home’s ‘animal friends’ workshop.  The children had the opportunity to stroke or hold a hamster, guinea pig and rabbit.  Karen from the store told them about the food the animals liked to eat. After the handling session they had the chance to ask any questions and to talk about what pets they owned themselves.

After the session the beavers took a walk around the store to look at the fish and other animals instore. Well done to the beavers for behaving so well.
